Summary:

The anime begins when a girl about 10-years old, Sakura Avalon (alias Sakura Kinomoto in the original version), wakes up when his father calls her. She introduces herself, then introduces her family: his brother Tori (alias Toya in the original version) - Twelfth grader - who teases her, his father, Aiden (alias Fujitaka in the original version), professor of archaeology to the university and her late mother, Natasha (alias Nadeshiko in the original version). His brother left the house to go to class, Sakura hurried to swallow her breakfast to leave with him. As usual, she takes the way of the school on rollers. On the way she sees the cherry blossoms which she takes time to admire then joins Tori. They find Julian Star (alias Yukito Tsukishiro in the original version), the friend of with whom Sakura is secretly in love. Sakura arrived in her school and before leaving, Julian threw him a candy. This is when Madison Taylor (alias Tomoyo Daidoji in the original version), the best friend of Sakura arrived. She had seen the scene of the candy. Scene which it had just filmed because Madison likes to film videos taking Sakura as her main subject, she wishes only to pick up an Oscar.

In class, Sakura is distracted. She draws what she saw in dream the previous night. The teacher asks her to continue the reading, but as she had not enough attention, Tiffany blew her the line.

Later during the day, in chearleader's training, practice whose Sakura became expert, Sakura continued to think of her dream, to such a point that when she threw her stick, she saw it differently and he fell on her head.

Back home, she saw that she was alone. By fetching something in the refrigerator, she heard a noise from the library of his father and went to see what it took place there. She saw then in one of the rows, a book which shone. She approached and took it. She opened the book and saw that it was containing strange cards. She took the first one of the pile and read what he was written there above: "Windy". At this moment, a wind burst out and all the cards being inside flew away and escaped from the house. The book fell on the ground then a small stuff animal went out of it. He flew all around Sakura and thanked her for having woken him up. He indroduced himself, Kero (alias Kerberos in the original version), then noticed that cards were not in the book any more. Sakura explained him what happened by returning to him the only remaining card, the one that she always held in the hands: The Windy.

That very evening, Sakura ate its meal at top speed, then said that she wished to eat her dessert in her bedroom. Kero explained what were the cards and the book which retained them: the Book of Clow Read then he forcefully named Sakura "Card Captor" by handing her a key but Sakura expressed its disagreement.

At this time, a gigantic bird made its appearance in the sky. Kero and Sakura thus left fighting the monster. Sakura called upon the key which Kero gave her. After having pronounced the incantation, it transformed into a scepter. Kero explained to her that she had to use the card The Windy because this one can control the wind, what allows the bird to fly. Sakura jump on the back of the bird and used "The Windy" who lashed it. Sakura made to the bird to take back the original card form with a new incantation. Kero tells her then to touch the card with her scepter as did with The Windy. Wings grew up immediately above which allowed Sakura to fly.
